Carve a band gate - Weave a band!
Finally, we can welcome master craftsman Kerstin Neumuller to Gothenburg!
Carve a band loom - Weave a band!
With her book "Simple weave - Weaving without a loom," Kerstin Neumüller wants to show that weaving neither has to be difficult nor bulky. During this course, she also demonstrates how you can make your weaving tools yourself with just a few tools! Here you will learn how to carve a band loom and then weave bands on it. The course is an excellent introduction to weaving and provides a good foundation if you want to continue with larger projects and tools later. Materials are included. The course is suitable for both beginners in carving and weaving and those with a bit more experience. Basic hand strength is a prerequisite to be able to carve a band loom.
Day one - Carving day
Kerstin shows her small band looms that look like girls, horses, and houses and tells how she started carving them. During the day, you will carve your own band loom under Kerstin's guidance.
Day two - Weaving day
How do you decide what pattern the band should have? We talk about the possibilities when weaving with a band loom and then weave. Use your newly carved band loom or borrow one from Kerstin! You will have time to try different band patterns and weave enough to take home some bookmarks or bracelets.

Knit colorfully and dare to cut
Colorwork knitting and steeking are two techniques that open up a world of possibilities in knitting. During this two-day course, you will dive into both areas while creating a small project bag – perfect for storing your small knitting accessories!
On day one, we focus on colorwork knitting. You will learn how to work with two colors simultaneously, manage yarns, and get other useful tips that enhance your knitting. Day two is all about steeking, cutting into our knitting. You will try two different ways to secure the knitting before taking out the scissors and be guided step by step through the process.
As a project during the weekend, we will work on a small bag where you get to try both techniques. By the end of the course, you will have – if not a completely finished – then an almost finished project bag that you can take home and start using.
Course leader:
Emelie Bröms, a dedicated knitter with a passion for colorwork knitting. Emelie regularly holds courses and workshops and collaborates with both Swedish and international knitting designers in their pattern production. On Instagram, @annaemeliemakes, she shares her beautiful creations, tips, and inspiration.
Prerequisites:
You need to have basic knitting skills. It is an advantage if you have tried knitting with two colors before, but it is not a requirement – we go through the techniques from the beginning.
What to bring:
Bring needles between 2.5-3.5 mm. We recommend circular needles, as we knit with magic loop, but if you prefer double-pointed needles, that is perfectly fine.
Shetland yarn is included so you can choose for your project in all beautiful colors and shades.
Two lunches at lilla Spinneriet and morning coffee are included.
Time and place:
We meet at the store 60 Garner Nord, at Spinneriet in Lindome:
Date: May 17-18, 2025
Times: Saturday 9:00 AM–4:00 PM and Sunday 10:00 AM–2:30 PM

During the lecture you will learn how to identify your colors and pinpoint where you are in the color wheel. You will also get plenty of other tips on how to combine colors. In addition, you will receive several good style tips and also see how Margareta wears knitwear!
