September Slipover is knitted from top to bottom in patent knitting. First, the back is knitted, by adding stitches to the neck and knitting back and forth on the needle with increases on each side. After this, stitches are picked up to the shoulder parts, which are first knitted separately, and then joined at the front to knit the front piece. Under the armhole, the back piece and the front piece meet to form the torso, which is knitted in the round on circular needle. Finally, stitches are picked up in armholes and in the neck opening to knit elastic edges.
Do a test before you start to find the stitch size that gives you the right stitch strength. Be aware that it is difficult to measure patent knitting as it is elastic - therefore measure several times.
There is a video with the patent knitting technique at www.petiteknit.com.
Size guide
The September Slipover should have a range of motion (positive ease) of approximately 10 cm. The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL correspond to a bust measurement of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 ( 130-140) 140-150 cm. The measurements of the finished slipover are given on the front of the pattern. Before you start knitting, measure yourself to determine which size fits you best. If you e.g. measures 90 cm around the bust (or the widest part of your body), you should knit a size S. A slipover in size S has an excess width of 100 cm and in the mentioned example will give a range of movement (positive ease) of 10 cm.
