Anna Bauer's pattern book

“Rating 5/5: Brilliant. Anna Bauer's large pattern book is a modern, elaborate and inspiring collection of patterns that are useful for many different projects, embroidery, beadwork, multi-colour crochet and above all knitting.” Library service

"Is like an old-fashioned brand book but with extra everything. It is a real treasure for those who want to create patterns for knitting and embroidery.” COUNTRY

Anna Bauer offers lots of patterns, both old and brand new, which you can knit, crochet, embroider in cross stitch or twist stitch, or lay as pearl tiles, with mosaics or with tiles. Here there are traditional and well-known patterns, but also newly drawn ones; neat and calm side by side with crazy and life-affirming.

The book is something as unusual as a modern brand book. Märkböcker were booklets published in Sweden from the 19th century onwards, with models for embroidery that could adorn pillowcases, sheets, towels, handkerchiefs and clothes. The stamp books from the 1930s, 40s and 50s are valued on the second-hand market.

Here, Anna has collected pattern sheets with borders, reported patterns and alphabets from her previous books and added lots of newly found and newly drawn ones. Read about how you can put patterns together and how to best color your pattern in knitting so that the pattern stands out clearly.

Get inspired and knit a sweater, put mosaics on a table top and embroider your clothes!

Anna Bauer is a textile artist and has developed the knitting technique of chicken knitting with its typical color palette and contemporary patterns. She has a master's degree in textile art from the University of Design and Arts and Crafts (HDK) in Gothenburg. She has also studied fashion design, pattern construction and sewing. Anna's work often appears in exhibitions and she regularly holds courses and workshops. She has previously published the books Hönsestrik a love story, Hönsestrik foreverDye Yarn and Knit (together with Eva Zethraeus) and Cardigan and Dress.
