You can advantageously knit with the soft and pill-free Heavy Merino from Knitting for Olive.
Eva Cardigan Junior is knit from the top down. First, the upper part of the back is knit with increases, after which the shoulders are knit from stitches picked up at the top of the back piece. Stitches are then picked up along the shoulders, and the rest of the yoke is knit together on the circular needle, while increases are knit at the front for a V-neckline. The body is knit back and forth on the circular needle, and the sleeves are knit in the round. Finally, stitches are picked up along the front edges to knit a wide button band in double rib.
Size guide
Eva Cardigan Junior should have a positive ease of about 18 cm in relation to the chest measurement. Sizes 1-2 (2-3) 3-4 (4-5) 5-6 (6-7) 7-8 (8-9) 9-10 (10-11) 11-12 (12-13) 13-14 years correspond to a chest measurement of approximately 53 (54) 56 (57) 59 (62) 64 (68) 72 (75) 78 (80) 82 cm. The finished cardigan measurements are given on the front of the pattern (note that these measurements only apply if the gauge is maintained). If you/the recipient, for example, measures 57 cm around the chest, you should knit a size 4-5 years. A cardigan in size 4-5 years has a chest circumference of 79 cm and will in this example give a positive ease of 22 cm. If the measured chest measurement deviates from the age guide, you should be careful to adjust the length to the person you are knitting for. The same applies if the child is shorter/longer than average.
