You can advantageously knit with the soft and pill-free Heavy Merino from Knitting for Olive.
The Eva Cardigan Junior is knitted from top to bottom. First, the upper part of the back is knitted with increases, after which the shoulders are knitted from stitches picked up at the top of the back piece. Stitches are then picked up along the shoulders, and the rest of the yoke is knitted together on a circular needle, while increases are made at the front to form a V-neckline. The body is knitted back and forth on a circular needle, and the sleeves are knitted in the round. Finally, stitches are picked up along the front edges to knit a wide button band in double ribbing.
Size Guide
The Eva Cardigan Junior should have a positive ease of about 18 cm in relation to the chest measurement. Sizes 1-2 (2-3) 3-4 (4-5) 5-6 (6-7) 7-8 (8-9) 9-10 (10-11) 11-12 (12-13) 13-14 years correspond to a chest measurement of approximately 53 (54) 56 (57) 59 (62) 64 (68) 72 (75) 78 (80) 82 cm. The finished garment measurements are given on the front of the pattern (note that these measurements only apply if the gauge is maintained). For example, if you/the recipient measures 57 cm around the chest, you should knit a size 4-5 years. A cardigan in size 4-5 years has a chest width of 79 cm and will in this example provide a positive ease of 22 cm. If the measured chest size deviates from the age guide, you should pay attention to adjusting the length to the person you are knitting for. The same applies if the child is shorter/longer than average.
