It is perfectly possible to knit in our fine Heavy Merino from Knitting for Olive instead.
Celeste Sweater Junior is knitted top down with a circular needle. First the neckline is knitted, and then the yoke is knitted around in pattern knitting with 5 different colors according to the diagram. Shortened rounds are knitted, after the pattern knitting of the yoke, to knit the back higher and thus create a good fit. The body and sleeves are knitted in stockinette stitch and both are finished with an elastic edge.
Be aware that pattern knitting should often be knitted on a 0.5-1 mm coarser stitch size than solid plain knitting. Therefore, do a sample in both pattern knitting and solid plain knitting, before you start knitting.
Size guide
Celeste Sweater Junior should have a range of motion (positive ease) of approx. 15-19 cm in relation to the bust measurement. The sizes 1-2 (2-3) 3-4 (4-5) 5-6 (6-7) 7-8 (8-9) 9-10 (10-12) 12-14 years correspond to a bust measurement of approx. 53 (54) 56 (57) 59 (62) 64 (68) 72 (78) 82 cm. The measurements of the finished sweater are given on the front of the pattern (note that these measurements only apply if the knit strength is maintained). If the child e.g. measures 56 cm around the chest, you should knit a size 3-4 years. A sweater in size 3-4 years has an overall width of 73 cm and in the mentioned example will give a range of motion (positive ease) of 17 cm. If the measured bust measurement deviates from the age guide, you should pay attention to adjust the length to the person you are knitting for. The same applies if the child is shorter/taller than average.
