Scarlet Cardigan is knitted top-down with a line of raised stitches along the front, back, each side of the body, and along the inside of the sleeves. First, the upper part of the back is knitted back and forth, where a slope of the shoulder parts is shaped using short rows. Then an i-cord edge is knitted along the cast-on edge of the back. Stitches are picked up for the shoulder parts, which are knitted separately back and forth on circular needles with increases for the V-neckline. The front pieces and back are then joined to continue in the body, which is knitted back and forth on circular needles. The sleeves are knitted from stitches picked up along the armhole. Finally, stitches are picked up along the front edges to knit a button band in double knitting.
Size guide
Scarlet Cardigan should have a positive ease of about 25 cm in the smallest sizes but gradually less in the larger sizes. The sizes XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL (5XL) correspond to a bust measurement, taken on the body, of 75-80 (80-85) 85-90 (90-95) 95-100 (100-110) 110-120 (120-130) 130-140 (140-150) cm. The measurements of the finished cardigan are given on the front of the pattern. Note: These measurements only apply if the gauge is maintained. Measure yourself before you start knitting to determine which size will fit you best. For example, if you measure 90 cm around the bust (or the widest part of your body), you should knit a size S. A size S cardigan has a chest circumference of 115 cm and will in this example give a positive ease of 25 cm. Size chart is available here.
