Carls Cardigan is knitted from the bottom up with raglan decreases on the yoke. The body is knitted in smocking stitch, while the sleeves are knitted in stockinette stitch. Smocking stitch stretches during washing and wear—which is why your cardigan looks narrow immediately after you have knitted it. After washing and wear, it will reach the correct measurements.
