Snö Sweater is an elegant version of a classic Christmas sweater with a winter landscape at the bottom of the sleeves. The sweater is knitted top-down with a circular yoke. The neckline and armholes are shaped with short rows, German Short Row, and the body ends with a ribbed edge. The sleeves are knitted bottom-up following charts with an icord edge
at the bottom. Finally, the sleeves are sewn onto the body with mattress stitch.
About Fair Isle technique
When knitting with multiple colors simultaneously, we recommend the Fair Isle technique. On the rows in the charts where both base color and contrast color are used, the yarns are carried together on the wrong side of the work. When knitting with the base color, the contrast color is carried on the wrong side until you switch and knit with the contrast color, and so on. Be careful not to knit too tightly when doing colorwork.
On some rows in the charts, there are many stitches between color changes. To avoid long loose floats on the wrong side, we recommend locking the inactive colors along the piece. This is done by taking the active yarn alternately over and under the inactive yarn(s) carried on the wrong side, thus weaving them into the work.
Knit following the charts
Always start at the bottom right corner of the chart unless otherwise stated. In circular knitting, read the chart from right to left on all rows.
At www.knittingforolive.dk you will find a detailed guide on how to knit from charts with examples from our own patterns.
