November balaclava Mini - PetiteKnit

November Balaclava Mini is knitted from top to bottom in half brioche stitch. First, a square is knitted which forms the top of the head. Then stitches are picked up on each side of this square, and the balaclava is knitted straight down, finally joined under the chin and knitted in the round. This is done by picking up stitches under the chin. A ribbed edge is knitted around the face opening at the end.

Knit a swatch to find the needle size that gives you the correct gauge. Wash the swatch before measuring the gauge.

Gauge: 16 stitches x 36 rows in half brioche on 4.5 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm before washing corresponds to 14 stitches x 36 rows in half brioche on 4.5 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm after washing because half brioche stretches when washed/used (note that 36 rows in half brioche count as 18 knit stitches in height)
