The Luna Hat / Luna Beanie
The Luna hat is crocheted vertically in one piece with “slip stitches with yarn over” and can be made in two different construction variants; one that is a bit simpler but more beginner-friendly and one with so-called “short rows” that suits more experienced crocheters. Regardless of which version you make, you will end up with a very cozy and nice hat.
Sizes: The hat can basically be crocheted in any size, so you follow your own measurements to get the best and most comfortable fit possible.
Yarn suggestions: Since you can make the hat in any size, you can also use (almost) any yarn. I recommend a yarn with thickness around 125-200 m/50 g. Below are some suggestions:
-
50-100 g Ulysse + 25-50 g Berenice by De Rerum Natura as held together
-
approx. 100 g Heavy Merino by Knitting for Olive
-
approx. 100 g Isager Soft
Crochet hook: Choose a crochet hook that matches the yarn thickness. For example, 4.5 or 5 mm fits the aforementioned yarns.
Other materials:
-
Darning needle
-
Scissors
-
Markers (open or openable)
-
Blocking mat/towels + pins
Difficulty level: 1.5-2.5 / 5 (depending on which version you make)
The dark blue hat is crocheted in Ulysse and Berenice by De Rerum Natura. The white hat in the pictures is crocheted in Cheeky Merino Joy by Rosy Green Wool. The light blue hat is crocheted in Alpakka Ull by Sandnes Garn.
