Melange Sweater Baby is knitted from the top down. First, the back piece is knitted back and forth in stockinette stitch, then stitches are picked up to knit the front piece. The back and front pieces are joined under the armhole to form the body, which is knitted in the round on circular needles. Stitches are picked up to knit the sleeves, and finally stitches are picked up to knit a folded ribbed edge at the neckline. The sweater requires no assembly. Melange Sweater Baby is knitted with two strands of thin wool yarn in contrasting colors to achieve a melange effect.

Size guide

Melange Sweater Baby should have a positive ease of about 17 cm compared to the chest measurement. Sizes 3-6 (6-9) 9-12 (12-18) months correspond to a chest measurement of approximately 45 (47) 49 (51) cm. The measurements of the finished sweater are indicated on the front page of the pattern (note that these measurements only apply if the gauge is followed). If the recipient, for example, measures 47 cm around the chest, you should knit size 6-9 months. A sweater in size 6-9 months has a chest circumference of 64 cm and will in the mentioned example give a positive ease of 17 cm. If the measured chest measurement deviates from the age guide, you should be careful to adjust the lengths to the person you are knitting for. The same applies if the child is shorter/taller than average.

Length: 30 (32) 34 (35) cm, measured at center back

Gauge: 20 stitches x 30 rows in stockinette stitch on 4 mm needles with two strands of yarn = 10 x 10 cm

Recommended needles: Circular needle 4 mm (60 cm), circular needle 3.5 mm (40 cm and 60 cm), double-pointed needles 4 mm and 3.5 mm (unless knitting with Magic Loop technique)

Materials: 150 (150) 200 (200) g Sunday from Sandnes Garn (50 g = 235 m) (knitted with double strand). Note that two strands are knitted simultaneously and the yarn consumption indicates the total yarn usage.
