This knitting pattern is in Swedish.
It is excellent for knitting with our pilling-free Heavy Merino from Knitting for Olive.
The Marseille Sweater is knitted from top to bottom. First, the upper part of the back is knitted back and forth, and the shoulder slope is shaped with short rows to achieve a good fit. Then the shoulder sections are also knitted with short rows, each back and forth on circular needles. The shoulder sections are joined at the front to shape the front piece. The front and back pieces are then joined to shape the body, which is knitted in the round on circular needles. The sleeves are knitted from picked-up stitches along the armhole, and they get a slope with the help of short rows. The sleeves are knitted in the round on circular needles and double-pointed needles or with Magic Loop technique. The ribbing of the neckline is finally knitted from picked-up stitches, folded double, and then knitted down. The Marseille Sweater is knitted with stripes, and their placement is indicated in the pattern.
Knit a swatch to find the needle size that gives you the correct gauge.
Size guide
The Marseille Sweater should have a positive ease of about 25 cm relative to your bust measurement. The fit is oversize. Sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL correspond to a bust measurement, measured on your own body, of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 (130-140) 140-150 cm. The measurements of the finished sweater are given on the front of the pattern. Measure yourself before you start knitting to determine which size will fit you best. For example, if you measure 90 cm around the bust (or the widest part of your body), you should knit a size S. A sweater in size S has a chest width of 115 cm and will in the mentioned example give a positive ease of 25 cm.
The model in the picture wears a size XS, has a bust measurement of 82 cm, and is 164 cm tall.
