Tibetan handspun - DK / 1-ply
Length: 50 - 60 meters (51 yards)
Weight: 50 grams
Knitting needles: 4-5 mm
Fibers: 75% Yak / 25% Merino
Here Shangdrok used three natural colors of yak wool: white, gray, and brown, to create 8 different shades of natural color. The yarn also contains 25% merino so that it can retain the softness of the short fibers of yak wool and gain the strength found in the long merino fibers.
This single-ply handspun yarn shows the original color and texture. A single-ply yarn can twist in cable knitting or pattern knitting, so it works best for stockinette or garter stitch. It also knits well together with a Soft Silk Mohair, for example.
The yarn’s name is inspired by the Tibetan plateau. This yarn is perfect for a lover of natural undyed colors. We in the shop call this beautiful yarn in its small skeins the babies!
