Yarn - Melert dark brown - 6452
Quantity:
Pre-yarn is a semi-finished yarn that is carded and divided into threads but it is not spun. The yarn is skeined with 2 parallel threads that should be knitted together; if you want, you can also add a thread of Soft Silk Mohair. This becomes a lovely material that is feather-light but has the same strength as regular yarn when knitted.
Pre-yarn can also be used for spinning.
One skein is about 200 g.
Length: approx 190 m per 100g
This skein weighs approx 210g therefore somewhat more expensive.
Gauge:
Knitting needles 4 mm: approx 18 sts = 10 cm | Needle 5: approx 16 sts = 10 cm | Needle 6: approx 14 sts = 10 cm
All garments that have a suitable gauge can be knitted with pre-yarn, e.g. patterns for Blåne and Troll or Luna, Vidde or Varde. It also works excellently of course with many of PetiteKnits patterns.
Here are some tips when knitting with pre-yarn:
•
Pre-yarn consists of two parallel threads, it should be knitted with both threads together.
•
Carefully pull out a meter or two of yarn from the bundle before you start knitting, and make sure to do this during the work. If you continue knitting without pulling out, the yarn will get resistance and break.
•
Yarn will probably break sometimes along the way, but then you can lightly felt it back together by moistening two fingers and rubbing the threads together.
