Poems in masks - Solveig Hisdal, mod. 152

To the book Poems in masks designer Solveig Hisdal drew inspiration from traditional patterns and techniques from, among other things, textiles, rose-mala chests and cupboards, wallpaper, bunads and tablecloths. She went to museums and gained knowledge and inspiration, and used this to create a book full of knitted treasures. The book was published in 1997 and is unfortunately not available for sale today.

Model 152 is knitted in Ash wool yarn (formerly Hifa 2). The yarn package contains a pattern and enough yarn for the largest size.
The sweater is inspired by a pair of gloves with floss edges found at the Drammens Museum. In this women's jacket, the traditional Norwegian eight-petal rose is used as a pattern.

Unfortunately, the book is no longer available, but all the models from the magnificent book can be found here as a yarn package with recipes in either Norwegian, Swedish or English.

Solveig Hisdal has a background in both graphic design, visual arts and clothing design. She has received numerous awards for her design skills. Solveig is best known for her design collaboration with Oleana. This collaboration started in 1992 and after that time all news from Oleana has been designed by her.

Solveig Hisdal is considered one of the best textile designers in Norway and her signature is evident in "Dikt i masker" thanks to her colorful design and well-developed sense of ornament and form.
