Poems in Masks – Solveig Hisdal, mod. 142 incl. ribbon

For the book Poetry in Stitches, designer Solveig Hisdal drew inspiration from traditional patterns and techniques from, among others, textiles, rosemaling chests and cabinets, wallpapers, national costumes, and chest cloths. She visited museums to gather knowledge and inspiration, using this to create a book full of knitted treasures. The book was published in 1997 and is unfortunately not available for sale today.

Model 142 is knitted in Ask Wool Yarn (formerly Hifa 2). The yarn pack contains the pattern and enough yarn for the largest size.
Inspired by the national costume life from Krødsherad, with the main fabric in wool damask in two shades of green and a solid dark blue panel in front. This jacket was the result, featuring patterned and solid panels, edges of velvet ribbon, and floral cotton fabric as lining.

The collaboration collection with Solveig Hisdal was created in connection with the release of the book "Poetry in Stitches" from 1997. The beautiful and timeless garments are still highly relevant.

The book is unfortunately no longer available, but all the models from the masterpiece book can be found here as yarn packs with patterns in Norwegian, Swedish, or English.

Solveig Hisdal has a background in graphic design, visual arts, and fashion design. She has received numerous awards for her design skills. Solveig is best known for her design collaboration with Oleana. This collaboration started in 1992, and since then all new releases from Oleana have been designed by her.

Solveig Hisdal is considered one of the best textile designers in Norway, and her signature is clear in "Poetry in Stitches" through joyful use of color, design, and a well-developed sense of ornament and form.
