The Line Top is knitted back and forth across in one piece. The work starts just before the right armhole and
the stitches are cast on with a provisional cast-on. Then the right armhole, front piece, left
armhole, and back piece are knitted in sequence. Armholes, shoulder straps, and neckline are shaped with increases and decreases,
casting on stitches, binding off, and short rows (German Short Rows). The top is joined at the
right armhole with mattress stitch, creating an invisible seam.
Finally, an I-cord edge is knitted along the shoulder straps and neckline for a neat finish.
The Line Top is knitted in stripes with two colors. One color is knitted in wider stripes and thus becomes the
dominant color. The choice of color allows for different expressions – two distinct colors give a strong
contrast while two adjacent shades give a more subtle impression.
When changing colors, we recommend carrying the yarn between stripes without cutting it, which results in
fewer ends to weave in.
