Jensen Yarn was originally called ÅLJ yarn after knitting designer Åse Lund Jensen. Already in the 1960s, Åse Lund Jensen had a production of hand-knitted sweaters which she also exported. However, the Swedish yarn she used at this time was so heavy that the postage abroad became too expensive. This obstacle opened the way for the start of the collaboration with Henrichsens Uldspinderi in Skive, which resulted in the slightly lighter ÅLJ yarn, which was slightly thinner, and the development of the color scale that we still use in both Jensen Yarn, Spinni and Tvinni.
The white wool comes from New Zealand and the brown and gray wool in s colors comes from Gotland sheep in Europe. The New Zealand supplier of wool is associated with Wool Integrity New Zealand - the program which guarantees, among other things, animal welfare and sustainability.
The colors are chemical, but the original color scale, developed by Åse Lund Jensen, is based on plant colors. Colors 0, 0s, 2s and 3s are undyed and unbleached. The colors in the rest of the color scale are Oekotex 100 colors, purchased in Europe, but since the spinning mill is not certified, we cannot use the Oekotex 100 label.
As the yarn consists of three threads, it is a firm and round yarn that is very well suited for structured knitting. The structure is clearly visible in this yarn. The yarn has an incredibly good durability and wears beautifully in the same way as Tvinni. We recommend it especially for sweaters used outdoors and for casual wear.

Skive Uldspinderi has produced wool by hand for over 100 years. Each fat is 50 g and 2 fats are added to each banderol = 100 g.
When you remove the banderole, it is easy to divide the two fats = 2 x 50 g.
In both the store and the online store, we are happy to share with you so you can settle for one fat if you order 50 g.
NOTE: The pictures show fat per 100 grams.
Collaboration with Camilla Vad
When the knitting designer Camilla Vad decided to close down her yarn sales and focus on design, she offered her fine color range to Isager, and it is now part of Jensen Yarn's color range with the numbers 0s, 4M and 80 – 99. Several of the colors in the range 80 -99 consists of very white yarn that is first dyed black and then overdyed with another color, which gives the nice play of colors. Camilla Vad has designed many good models in the yarn. The patterns are available for purchase on Camilla Vad's Ravelry.
Washing advice
Wool is washed by hand, unless you have a washing machine with a very gentle wool program that can be washed in cold water. To avoid warping in the finished model, only a little soap is used. Use an approved wool detergent. Keep the same temperature throughout the washing and rinsing process and finally do not wash above 28 degrees. The knitted model can advantageously be spun easily after washing. Place the model in a laundry bag or pillowcase. After the centrifugation, the model is laid out to dry on towels.
It is not necessary to wash a wool model often. It is often enough to hang it up for ventilation in damp weather. Cotton yarn and mixed yarn with flax and bamboo can withstand higher washing temperatures, but we recommend the same wash as the wool yarn.
Storage
Remember to store yarn and knitting in plastic bags or tightly woven cotton bags. A bucket or plastic container with a tight-fitting lid is also suitable.
Isager yarns are not moth-treated, as the agents available are not without side effects in relation to allergy sufferers and also only last for the first wash.
