"Isager Jensen is a fantastic wool yarn and as our master knitter Pernilla Sätherström puts it:"
- The wool yarn with the perfect knitting definition!
As the yarn consists of three threads, it is a firm and round yarn that is very well suited for structured knitting. The structure is clearly visible in this yarn. The yarn has an incredibly good durability and wears beautifully in the same way as Tvinni. We recommend it especially for sweaters used outdoors and for casual wear.
Petitknit has many patterns with Isager Jensen and often together with Isager Soft Mohair or as in the Esther Jacket which is knitted together with Isager Highland: https://60garnernord.se/products/kopia-av-agnete-cardigan-12?_pos=1&_sid=04f5600f1&_ss=r
The white wool comes from New Zealand, while the brown and gray wool that is also dyed comes from Gotland sheep from Europe. The New Zealand supplier of wool is associated with Wool Integrity New Zealand – the program that guarantees, among other things, animal welfare and sustainability.
Jensen Yarn was originally called ÅLJ yarn after knitting designer Åse Lund Jensen. Already in the 1960s, Åse Lund Jensen had a production of hand-knitted sweaters which she also exported. However, the Swedish yarn she used at this time was so heavy that the postage abroad became too expensive. This obstacle opened the way for the start of the collaboration with Henrichsens Uldspinderi in Skive, which resulted in the slightly lighter ÅLJ yarn, which was slightly thinner, and the development of the color scale that we still use in both Jensen Yarn, Spinni and Tvinni.
Collaboration with Camilla Vad
When the designer Camilla Vad chose to discontinue her yarn sales and focus on design, she offered her beautiful color palette to Isager, and it is now included in Jensen Yarns' color palette with the numbers 0s, 4M, and 80 – 99. Several of the colors in the range 80 - 99 consist of a lot of white yarn that is first dyed black and then overdyed with another color, which creates the beautiful color play. Camilla Vad has designed many great models in the yarn. The patterns are available for purchase on Camilla Vad's in Ravelry.
The colors are chemical, but the original color scale, developed by Åse Lund Jensen, is based on plant colors. Colors 0, 0s, 2s and 3s are undyed and unbleached. The colors in the rest of the color scale are Oekotex 100 colors, purchased in Europe, but since the spinning mill is not certified, we cannot use the Oekotex 100 label.

Washing advice
Wool should be washed by hand, unless you have a washing machine with a very gentle wool program that can wash in cold water. Use an approved wool detergent. Maintain the same temperature throughout the washing and rinsing process, and do not wash above 28 degrees. The knitted garment can be gently spun after washing. Place the garment in a laundry bag or in a pillowcase. After spinning, lay the garment out on, for example, towels to dry.
"It is not necessary to wash a wool garment so often. It is usually enough to hang the garment up for airing. Cotton yarn and blended yarn with linen and bamboo can withstand higher washing temperatures, but we recommend the same wash as wool yarn."
storing
"Remember to store yarn and knitting in plastic bags or tightly woven cotton bags or in a plastic box with a lid. This is because Isager yarn is not moth-treated, as the substances present are not without side effects for allergy sufferers and also only last until the first wash."
