Petra Polo is knitted from the top down. First, the upper part of the back is knitted with increases. The shoulder sections are then knitted from stitches picked up along the top of the back piece. Stitches are then picked up along the edges of the shoulder sections so that all the yoke stitches are now on the circular needle and can be knitted back and forth, first with sleeve increases and later with raglan increases. The button bands are knitted in double knitting from stitches picked up before the body is knitted in the round on a circular needle. The sleeves are knitted in the round on double-pointed needles or using the Magic Loop technique, and they can be knitted either short or long. Finally, the collar is knitted in a tight rib. Petra Polo is closed with three buttons.
Make a swatch to find the needle size that gives you the correct gauge. Wash the swatch before measuring it.
Size guide
Petra Polo is designed to have approximately 2 cm of positive ease. Sizes XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL (5XL) correspond to a bust measurement (measured directly on the body) of 75-80 (80-85) 85-90 (90-95) 95-100 (100-110) 110-120 (120-130) 130-140 (140-150) cm. The measurements of the finished blouse are stated on the front of the pattern. Note: These measurements only apply if the gauge is maintained. Measure yourself before you begin knitting to determine which size will fit you best. For example, if you measure 90 cm around the bust (or the widest part of your body), you should knit a size S. A size S blouse has a bust circumference of 92 cm and will, in this example, provide 2 cm of positive ease. If you have broad shoulders but a small bust measurement, you may want to go up a size. Let the size you would normally buy in a blouse guide you. You may also find it helpful to measure a well-fitting blouse in your wardrobe and choose the pattern size that best corresponds to those measurements. The measurement chart is available here.
