SIZES
Note the relatively large jump between sizes. This is because the shape follows the pattern repeat, which is worked over 12 stitches. This results in a larger difference in grading than would typically be used in a stockinette design, for example.
It may be a good idea to compare the measurements with a sweater that fits you well before choosing your size. The stated measurements are those of the finished sweater, not your own measurements.

CONSTRUCTION

The design is knitted in the round from the bottom up. At the armholes, the work is divided into back and front, and each section is completed back and forth. The shoulder sections are finished with ribbing and short rows. The shoulder stitches are knitted together, and stitches are picked up for the sleeves along the armholes. The sleeves are knitted in the round and finished with decreases in the pattern.
The design features ribbed edges on the body and sleeves, with Italian cast-on and bind-off.

RECOMMENDED NEEDLES

5 mm and 4.5 mm needles for casting on.

GAUGE

Gauge in pattern on 5 mm needles:
10 cm = 17 rows
10 cm = 28 sts

Rib (k1, p1) on 5 mm needles:
10 cm = 18 rows
10 cm = 26 sts
