The Holger Cardigan is ideally knitted in Heavy Merino from Knitting for Olive.

The Holger Cardigan is knitted from top to bottom. The body is knitted with stripes, while the sleeves, button band, and neckline are knitted in solid colors, each in a different color. First, the upper part of the back is knitted back and forth, and a shoulder slope is shaped using short rows while knitting stripes. Then the shoulders are knitted separately back and forth on a circular needle. The front pieces and back are then joined to knit the body, which is knitted back and forth on a circular needle with stripes. The sleeves are knitted from stitches picked up along the armhole. The button band and ribbing at the neckline are knitted last from picked-up stitches.

Size guide

The Holger Cardigan should have a positive ease of about 20-25 cm relative to the chest measurement. Sizes 1-2 (2-3) 3-4 (4-5) 5-6 (6-7) 7-8 (8-9) 9-10 (10-11) 11-12 (12-14) years correspond to a chest measurement of approximately 53 (54) 56 (57) 59 (62) 64 (68) 72 (75) 78 (82) cm. The measurements of the finished cardigan are given on the front of the pattern (note that these measurements only apply if the gauge is maintained). For example, if you/the recipient measures 62 cm around the chest, you should knit a size 6-7 years. A cardigan in size 6-7 years has a chest width of 86 cm and will in this example provide a positive ease of 24 cm. If the measured chest size deviates from the age guide, you should pay attention to adjusting the length to the person you are knitting for. The same applies if the child is shorter or taller than average.
