Compatible Cashmere is a fantastic wool yarn made from 100% cashmere. This is pure luxury to knit with, and you can knit with a single strand of this yarn, or why not double it on 3 mm needles as an alternative to KFO merino, or you can double it with Soft Silk Mohair. The cashmere wool comes from China and Mongolia, and the yarn is produced in Italy. The spinning mill follows ethical and environmental standards to create a yarn free from harmful substances. The yarn is Öko Tex 100 certified. The cashmere fiber is shorter than, for example, merino fiber, which means finished garments require a bit of care as pilling can occur. It can easily be removed with a wool comb.
Our cashmere comes from goats in Mongolia and China. In Mongolia, the goats roam freely on the grasslands with their herders who live as nomads. In China, the goats are kept and fed on farms from winter until the rain falls and makes the grasslands green. When the grass has grown long enough, the animals are let out during the day and return to the farms at night.
The farms and livestock keepers are visited twice a year to ensure that the animals are kept and treated with respect.
