2ply Supreme Lace – 100% Shetland Wool

Shetland Supreme Lace is a soft and silky 2ply yarn, worsted spun from the natural, undyed colors of purebred Shetland sheep. Developed in collaboration with the Shetland Museum and Archives as part of the Shetland Fine Lace Project, this yarn recreates the quality of handspun lace yarns used in historic pieces from the 1800s — including Queen Victoria’s stockings. While knitting, it carries the distinctive Shetland halo — soft and wispy — which settles into a light, floating haze once washed. Ideal for heirloom-quality lace shawls, scarves, and stoles.

Natural Shade Notes

All shades in this range are completely undyed (except for Optic White, which is bleached). These are the true colors of the fleece, giving the yarn a soft warmth and character. Shade names are descriptive references — for example, Shetland Black is a very dark brown.
